Pretty sure it was, but after many years in Australia I think there have been modifications. More of the older member would know better than me.
I know the I6 is an american motor that has been redesigned so much that it can now be called the only aussie 6 in australia and not a packaged motor.

Hmmmm, interesting thread.

LH SLR5000. Just love the paint job, the big lairy bolt on guards and the SLR5000 lettering down the side. Big 'n' lairy, perfect for the era. BTW, I reckon the 4 door torrie looks better than the hatchback.

VH Group A. The blue meanie. Of all the Brock commodores this one appeals the most. Can have any colour you want as long as it's blue!!

VL Group A. The last of the Brockies. Just seems to me to be a very nice package.

Anyway, these are 3 Holdens I'd be happy to own.

As far as I know the 380 motors are imported from Japan as the Mitsubishi engine plant in Adelaide was shut down last year.

As I turn by baseball cap around backward, I’ll say that it would have to be the FULLLY SICCK VL turbo bro. :

Seriously though, my all time favourites would be the HZ GTS

and the HG Brougham.

Cheers, Danny

That would be the Aussie Cleveland...: made in Cleveland Ohio, USA would it? Yes, we made some of our own heads... but that hardly makes it an Australian engine.

Much more Australian would be the Windsor (thats Windsor Canada of course but at least its part of the Commonwealth).

A nice VN-VP SS or even the 6 has a bit of beast about it...

The rest, not my cuppa.

And sorry, the VLT gets no credits in my book. Fast car. Not a Holden.

Sorry but why dont people call VLTs Holdens?

Yes they use a Japanese engine but they're still a Holden.

Just like how they use Buick V6s in the other models.

and you call yourselves ford fans????

im sure there are many differances between the yank clevelands and the ausse ones (sold in many x series falcons) i hear the cleveland block put in earlier x series was yankee but these blocks were later pulled out and studied in aus,

a recast was made in aus and these are thicker walls than standard, clevelands lived a very very short life in the USA due to emissions, but were used in falcons until xf,

the distributer hole is smaller and the block thickness was the only bottom end differeance i believe (some might know of more changes) but the heads the yanks got were 4v open chamber and 2v open chamber, australia in all of its greatness made a 2v closed chamber which allowed for much higher compression, i know people who have made thousands exporting thease heads to the seppo's,

go to google and look on yank sites about extracting more power out of there clevelands and they all mention this 'great aussie head'.. go on go look.. i dare ya

I meant that it's Australian because it has been redesigned by Ford Aus. The government gave Ford a big grant to keep redesigning the motor. The Holden motor is a package motor that requires some assembly.

Because no matter how much we deny it, Holden is the more popular make in OZ. AND we were let down with a 220 kW V8 when Holden had 300. AND try promoting a ford on a holden forum and see how long it lasts before it becomes uncivilised Jsmilie:

Yes you know Holden is far more superior then Ford. lol joke

I agree with you though, Holden is far more popular then Ford here in Aus.

Also about that trying to promote Ford on a Holden site, go to that link I posted about about The Favourite Falcon and you'll see there was only 1 mindless comment, the rest were all good.
