Default lw - key battery low??

when i hopped into my car the other day i had an error beep and a message flashed up on the screen in the gauge cluster saying 'warning - key battery low, change soon'

this seems pretty odd as my car is only 8mo/12,000km old.

has anyone else had the same message? does it pop up erroneously? if not, is the battery easy/cheap to replace?

Shouldn't need replacing yet I wouldn't have thought but it's a pretty simple process to replace, most use a CR 2032 -3V battery, which should be available in most auto spares places, electronic stores or the local chemist

They seem to be having the same issues in the States as well. Is your car keyless start / proximity entry system? They do drain battries quite quickly but 8 months seems too soon. My Titanium is a November 2011 build and I picked it up in Feb last year but the remote/s is/are fine.

Be careful as they are prone to breaking when you change the battery.
