Default NSW Nanny State - John Williamson @ Tamworth

Williamson causes trouble in Tamworth

He may be country music royalty but John Williamson can still get on the wrong side of the law - even in Australia's country music capital.

Williamson, in Tamworth for the annual country music festival, raised the ire of police on Saturday morning for remaining in the back of his ute unrestrained after a cavalcade along the main street of the town.

SNIP

Police issued a statement on Saturday afternoon confirming a 55-year-old woman from Sydney was fined $253 and lost three points off her licence for having unrestrained passengers in a prohibited part of a ute following a street parade in Tamworth.

Not sure this is posted elsewhere, can't see that it has.....

See story & pics here:-

Wifie has a house at TAM - not attended the Country (changing tune) festival, these sorts of outcome lend one to stay away with_more_certainty.

That said; ze law iz ze law, but couple that with a poppy and manufactured public scene!! . . . .

This law has been in QLD for some time. Unfortunately I missed the era where you could. Given the apparent speed they were doing, being unrestrained on your bicycle (FFS) would be more dangerous. Just another fine example of political correctness taking precedent over commonsense. But it is the law, and we MUST obey the law.......

Just make sure you tie your horse securely when alighting from it ... otherwise they'll nab you for that as well.
