Default Single DIN fascia for AU - Aerpro FP9140

I posted this in Mikal52's thread, as he was looking for something like this, but thought it would be useful here too. We have all had the single DIN pockets and head units that don't quite look right once installed. Well, the black FP9140 (and FP9141 - grey) is the answer - seriously!

I had to wait a few weeks as these were on back order, but it was worth it. The longest time taken to install this? Finding four 5mm x 6mm machine screws to hold the head unit to the new frame (took around 3 minutes to find them in my "spare" screw collection). Total install time, including removal of old frame and pocket was around 8 minutes.

This fascia is great - I would strongly recommend it for anyone looking it doing an aftermarket single DIN install in place of the factory double DIN, and in fact, I would recommend it for anyone who has used the single DIN pocket. The best part is they are only around $30 to $35.

Check it out Here

Can you confirm that this is a double din fascia, JC?

When I first changed to an aftermarket headunit I bought an item that looked the same and I "think" it was the same part # but it was not double din. It was probably 1.75 din - about 1/2" shorter than double din.

When i took it back the guy at autobarn checked his cattledog and said that it was an for an AU1 not AU2/3.

They may have changed it to suit (I note that Aerpro say that it's S1,2,3) but just thought I'd check with you.

If it's double din, I'm in

It's pictured (and described as in the link) as single din.

Which part is single din (size), the pocket or the head unit surround, or both?

If both are single din (size) then it would make the item a double din (size).

The one I bought was smaller than double din (size). The opening for my factory head unit is double din... the fascia I bought a few years ago was too short to fill the space... there was a bout 1/2" gap at the bottom (or top).

Hope that explains my question a bit better.

edit: It looks like a double din fascia. In SR's pic, if you overlay the head unit onto the pocket is seems to be the same size (single din).
JC will confirm I'm sure but it's a good find by the look of it.

The facia/fascia is double DIN size - fills the hole in the Fairmont the same as in Inferno's pic. The slot for the headunit is single DIN, leaving a DIN sized pocket. camera batteries are charging, so will get a pic in a few hours. It looks as close to factory as you can get (in fact, I rekcon better then factory!)

Here's a pic of the FP9140 installed in the Fairmont. And a bonus pic of the new Headrest DVD players.

You bet! And cheaper than a night's accommodation each way - should keep the kids busy, between movies, music and games (all on the headrests).

ok so its a heap better than the pocket but does it help with mounting the cd play at all? and it looks like theirs quite a gap above it?... although probably not noticeable from the seats...

Yeh - the gap isn't seen from the front seats, but I'm going to check it anyway.

Yes, it has metal brackets that mount to the side of the head unit. It's the best mounting I've seen and used for an AU (and I've had a few AUs, and each has had an aftermarket head unit).

with that gap you will find that you have to push the top in abit more so that it clips into the dash as my one sits better than the factory head unit. ill try to get a picture up of my one as i have had it in the car for ages.

Thanks sikford - that worked. No more gap (and without the use of a Selleys broduct). Pushed it in, it clicked, and is now nice and straight!
