Default Mustang SVT-RA - For Sale!

So like most of you I hit carsales up while I procrastinate a little bit just to see whats out there and how prices are going.

A thread in the pits jogged my memory of John Bowe and a particular Bud Racing SVT-RA kicking some Italian butt back in the day...

So I went for a quick search for Tickford Mustangs and noticed this bad boy for sale..OMG

https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/det...6543848/?Cr=19

This car is without a doubt my favourite modern Ford, probably more so than even Fords effort to revive the GT"40".

To me its similar in thought process to the T3, last run of the model and enough special bits to make it stand out.

I was not aware that there were ever any street versions sold by FoA unless it was a requirement to race?

I do recall a not so pretty yellow SVT-RA convertible at a Melbourne Motorshow that Ford displayed but I believe that was for show only and probably not a genuine "RA".

Anyway, its a decent amount of coin for a Mustang of that vintage but Id love to see it in the flesh one day.

edit: link from the pits for those who dont remember...

Second edit: on further inspection it seems this one still has the standard 4.6L which is pretty disappointing, it would be interesting to hear from the owner if there was anything else done tot he car and hopefully its not just a body kit and wheels......so T3 winning.

He may need to revise that price...

This is more like the spec, and price.

Looks like just got the front bar, wheels and wing off the real Cobra R.
Doesn't even have the bonnet.

This is the yellow convertible. Apparently the Cobra RA was a special Aussie build that used a bunch of Cobra R bits without being the full build, so it's cool but not as cool as the R

Ask GTLEGEND to run that VIN ... and see what it actually comes back with.

So, old mate still hasnt seemed to have much luck selling this yet and Im thinking it may be better to wait until the Gov handouts ease off to see how the economy goes, but...

Would it be reasonable to offer a price that considered;

Price of a similar km's Cobra - $20-25k (IMO thats still good money for an orphan)
Price of R kit - $1200USD
Price of R Rims - $1000USD

So....$30k offer rude? Thats obviously way less than advertised but at the end of the day shes a SVT R mock up albeit with a FoA plate (apparently).

It's just not different enough to justify the price. If all it is is a Cobra with a few R bits added.

Would be a different story if it was a genuine R.

Simply put... rude? Yes.

Justified, unsure.

I think there's some far nicer options for $80k as a weekend/investment type purchase.. I guess you'd have to really love that shape Stang for 80k.

Its a shame, the question then is how much is that Ford RA plate on it worth?

Anyone could build a car to that spec for the $30k I just mentioned (less if you bargain hunt).

With the newer shape Mustangs getting cheaper aswell it starts to make less financial sense.

But yes I love the shape and the SVTR would have to be my favourite modern Ford, I dont know wy, perhaps when they were racing in Australia is dominated and I remember the restrictions that were placed on the cars then to slow them down.

You could buy the real thing and bring it over for less.

Mind you, one of my favourite Fords, and a big reason why I'm a fan of the 5.4 Boss motors

And thats the biggest kicker...import that and save resale aswell. But the plan isnt to cotton wool the car so if there is a small prang I feel a bit better hurting a mock up.
