At $160 just to order them, the price is a bit steep, but thats normal for RTA rip off prices

I quite like the look of the FPV plates.

What do you guys think of FPV plates on an XR8? Would it be weird/sad?

Heaven forbid somebody can now make their car the way they want it.

I reckon they look really good - must admit I think the HSV ones look better though.

Stick with the plain ones. Can't see the point in owning FPV plates if you don't own a FPV.

Both the FPV and HSV plates look good. If only they'd bring out Ford or XR plates as well. I hate the look of almost all of the styles of number plate available in NSW. The best ones in my opinion are the HSV, FPV, Centenary of Federation and the Harbour Bridge ones.

So if you don't own a FPV specific model you are considered sad to use these FPV number plates - doesnt FPV stand for Ford Performance Vehicle? XR6 and XR8's started as been Tickford modified, Tickford was acquired by Prodrive in the UK - Prodrive and Ford got together and created FPV so then Tickford modified cars could be a FPV - I own a Ford, its a Performance Vehicle - so doesnt that make it a FPV?

Pardon digging the thread, but has anyone got pics of these plates on their car?

I'm considering a set (yeah yeah I "only" have an XR6T), but I'm not quite sure how they'll look in real life, especially since both front and rear are the large style (quite like slim on the front).

What if the persons initials are FPV and he doesn't own an FPV? I know someone whose initials are GT. So he has personalised plates. Someone commented to me once about someone showing plates with GT on a car that is not a GT. I said why not when those are his initials.

I think if you like the plates, and you want them then you should do it. Too many people getting a little too consumed about things of zero significance. Lets face it, putting FPV plates on a non FPV isn't going to make the world implode. Just plates FFS.

Yeah but his initials arent FPV .... and he reasons that he can have an FPV plate cause he says his XF Falcon is in fact an FPV !!! ...cause its a Ford ! and its a perfomance vehicle ! pmsl
There is a difference.!! No one is "forbidding" it, but drawing a long bow like that is a laugh!

Red face

Note that the plates are the full size versions, front and back. I had some ordered for my GT until I realised the front plate was going to be hanging down across the lower grill a bit, its only narrow there and fits a slim plate only. I had to change the order and got the colour plates instead. So the FPV plates wont fit a FPV, good work RTA. :togo:

Thats a bit like my Barge Bucky.
My (standard issue) prefix is AWB. I have nothing to do with the Australian Wheat Board, although it was kinda embarrassing when the AWB scandal in Iraq happened

Anyway for the prices the RTA charge to order vanity plates PLUS an annual fee I wouldn't be bothered
