Hi, my name is Brendan, all the way from Zimbabwe. I'd like to say a big thank you to the Admins for adding me. Proud owner of a 1970 ford falcon 500 ute. In the process of rebuilding her and transplanting a FE 445 stroker into her. Parts and mechanics with any knowledge of FE engines are non existent in Zimbabwe so this forum is my lifeline.

Thanks for the add. We've just bought a 2003 Egas BA, and this forum has been helpful already. Wife is happy as she still misses our old AUII Futura wagon. We are both from Blue Oval families: her first car was her Dad's well worn XY, mine was a MkII Escort Panel Van. My Dad's Ford heritage has featured a '32, '34, a '67 Mustang, and his pride and joy, a '64 F100 (with substantial improvements). Our family get togethers now look like a AU/BA club meeting. My sister has an Egas wagon, my brother a sedan, Mum has an AUII sedan and my Dad's daily driver has just been upgraded from an XG ute to a BA ute.

Hello all, I live in the USA, I actually work for Ford. I kick myself, as back in the 70's I actually had a chance to buy an XB, here in the States. Right hand drive.(A soldier at Westover air base had brought it in) But I was a poor college kid....and the 750.00 USD was lots at the time. Oh well, would still like one, (Wife would kill me)

Though i better introduce myself, long time ford fan but im not 1 eyed i just love nice cars whatever make they may be. Owned several fords over the years - EB Fairmont, Au iii Fairmont, BA XR6, SY Territory GHIA, SY Territory Turbo GHIA, BA XR6T Ute (400+RWKW Loved It!). Missus currently drives a new Ford Focus S and i have a 66 XP falcon 4 door which i am currently building.
I gave up the fun of my ute for a V8 landcruiser so looking forward to finishing the XP so i can drive something that makes me smile again haha

Doesn't have many mods as I am still on my P's,
So far it's got a fairmont front splitter, bf side skirts, boss bonnet, extractors with 2 1/2 inch exhaust hi flo cat n some
18's, lowered 1.5 inches (not enough) and some minor interior bits

G'day all. I am a 73 year old who has owned nothing but Falcons since my Jaguars (Mk8 & Mk1) died in 1974. Before the Jaguars I had 4 Holdens, an FJ Ute, an 63 EH 149 wagon, a 64 EH Premier manual 179 sedan and back to a 1960 FB sedan. First was a 65 XP "Green Velvet" 170 sedan which was written off in a massive hailstorm (Brisbane) in 1985. It was in such good condition still that the insurer gave me a good payout and allowed me to keep the car, which I still sold fo a good price.The proceeds allowed me to buy first a 1975 XB 250 manual sedan ($900) which looked pretty rough, but it was a SIDO (Special Inventory Dealer Order) country car from Goondoowindi, and had armour under the sump, heavy rubber flap protection for the fuel tank and factory (not Ford) bullbar instead of a front bumper. It had done 185000 Km but they were country KM. Every thing was still firm, the engine had been run on antifreeze concentrate, and it had been anti rusted etc. A new coat of "Banana Blush" Dulon, a front bumper from the wreckers and it was a new car!!! I kept it until 2000, but while I hd expected the spares to remain plentiful at the wreckers they dried up, because they were just crushing them. At the same time as I bought the XB I also bought a 250 manual XY for my wife.It was an ex police pursuit car, Diamond White (Fleet colour) with a teal blue interior and holes where the microphone had been.($500) with a blown motor. Good s/h motor and repaint and beaut. But by 1999 we had moved to the Bayside and her work had moved further the other way, and while they were paying the tolls, we were paying the fuel, and the parts (body trim) were not readily available. Solution: a 13 month old KJ3 Laser manual from Bryan Burt Ford, but we knew the original buyer and reason for disposal at 14000Km (another pregnancy). The car had every possible extra excepy remote locking/immobiliser which we had fitted. Cost, about $22,000. Big difference to previous purchases. I read up on the current crop of Falcons, and the EL was at that time classed as the best one so far. I waited for the right one and in April 2000 a 1998 Sapphire sedan (Alaskan Frost) with 30,000 Km was available from a 4 wheel drive importer (trade-in). I had a good look over it and it had not been detailed so I was happy with it. Another $22,000. 2012, and we are retired and my wife's knee is playing up, so we look for an automatic 4 Cyl and can't go past a NEW 2012 Hyundai Elantra auto with premium paint($22,000). She then "prompts" me to upgrade (The EL is now 14 years old, but has only 85,000 KM on it). I stall until November 2013, then get a 2012 FG Mk2 XR6 from Byrne Ford for $23,000. Ok it was a hire car (Avis) but had only 30,000KM on it and was a beautiful Silver (Ligthning Strike) and had those terrific 50th Anniversary Mag wheels. A good look over it and it had not been thrashed, only worry was the rear tyres had been replaced with Linglongs. I was going to replace them, but found a Finnish test had rated them 4th among all the big name brands, so I will keep them until they wear out. It's not like I'm into donuts or burnouts. I've had the shockers etc tested at Pedders, A wheel alignment at Fulcrum, replaced the spacesaver spare with a matching alloy and am now happy that it is better than new. My only concern was the prevalence of tales on the web of coolant in the auto trans (milk shake). I don't know if it is an urban myth or referred to an earlier model using the radiator to cool the transmission fluid or does include the XF auto which uses a discrete cooler/heater block under the starter. Someone may be able to help me with this,but in the meantime I have changed the coolant to 50% Glycol concentrate.

Kiwi just joined living in Wellington. Currently own 05 ba2 ute XR8 6 speed manual (work truck) purchased new. Also have FG 08 Gt with upgrade P brakes purchased at 3 months old. Have a few vibration issues with the ute so will be looking for some advise.

I have just purchased a 1980 ZJ fairlane, in good nick and a fresh 302, but I would like to replace the C4 auto with a 4 or 5 speed manual. The question that I have is : Can I buy an old manual Xd 6 cylinder falcon and swap the parts from flywheel to tailshaft, pedals etc into the fairlane??
I appreciate that this may be covered in one of the earlier threads, so if someone can point me in the right direction with a PM than I would appreciate it

Hi all.

Not a new member as such, but havn't posted for years.

Have just bought a '08 FPV F6x (First Ford)
Was after an F6 Rspec, but the only one with the options i wanted was modified, so put that on hold and bought my second choice.

Still own 2 holdens though, but next purchase will be the Typhoon when one becomes available (or an Audi ;))

Hello to all!

I am a new member here.

I have just picked up my New Kuga Ambiante Auto AWD in Ginger Ale Metallic... Hence my forum ID name!

I have been a Mitsubishi Fan for a long time and in fact, I have owned 7 Mitsubishis since getting my licence 15 years ago, from the Cordia to the Evolution. I still have a Lancer that is parked alongside the Kuga.

Anyway, I decided to get a Kuga because of all the great reviews I have been reading on different forums. It also has a class leading Killerwasps and Torque figures for a petrol engine. Unlike the Outlander that seemed a little too basic for the price in comparison.

The only thing that would complete the Ambiante would be climate control Aircond. So far its good, but cant really tell until I complete running in the motor and then doing a few redlines to get a real feel of the car.

hi there I am a new member but would like some help
a few weeks ago I bought a fpv ba gt from Adelaide
the car was bought from original owner. I have problem with transferring rego in Tassie because sa rego had engine number as part of vin number
other problem is the engine number is not where I am told it should be

Hi guys, newbie here, just a quick post to introduce myself.

The Ford that brought me here is a 1959 Ranchwagon hearse that we use as a Variety Bash Car. It is known as R1P.

I don't own the car, just spin the spanners on it during the year. It spends most of the year being fixed, upgrade and played with - then each August we beat the crap out of it in a two week bash on dirt roads all over Oz.

On separate trips we've travelled to Perth, Broome, Darwin, Alice Springs, Uluru, Cameron's corner. We've done the Gibb river road, Oodnadatta track, the old Gahn railway track, Bamaga at the tip of Cape York and all points in between.

In the course of these trips we've raised over $80,000 for Variety the Children's Charity.

The car is far from showroom condition and wouldn't win any originality contests, but it has carried us reliably for 10 years.

It now has a 390 FE motor (orig was the 332), 4 barrel Holley, mild cam, balanced and breathed on a bit. We have an FMX box behind it, 9 inch diff of course running 31 spline axles (we've broken a few of these!) disc brakes all round, beefed up suspension, 200 litre fuel tank, roll cage, heavier drive shaft, and a skid plate under the vitals.

Will try a few pics when I figure out how to post them. The pic I managed to attach is R1P the day it was delivered to the Funeral Parlour in Darby Queensland!

In real life I am a Locksmith - so any key questions I can probably help with. I am hoping that I can get a bit of help with my amateur mechanicing!

gday all, self confessed FORDnut, altho i have built some tuff holdens in my time just to silence my holden mates. currently own a 69 falcon XT, sleeper 347 stroker on NOS, also an 08 BF2 xr6t update, jack of all trades- save a ***** load on labour.. am a member of xr6turbo.com and ford australia forums also.. thought i would give this one a go..

Hello all, Bills is my real name and this is my first post. I've been on here a while and I read a lot. I have recently purchased an old AU ute and now trying to pink slit it, hopefully before the rego expires. IMO It ultimately requires signification work, and money, because I would like to restore it before using it on the road. However if I can pink slip it soon I could keep its plates and not have to re-register it with a bluey (NSW). When I brought it home several weeks ago it wouldn't even start. I haven't worked on cars for some time and was not familiar with modern, computer controlled engines. So my first step was to learn as much as I could, in short time, about this (I6) engine and modern fuel and other automotive computer management systems. So I have to thank-you guys (and gals) for your very informative forum. I do hope that one day I might have something intelligent to contribute at which time I will. And yes, I did get the AUs engine running, broken crank timing sensor, however I now have removed the exhaust manifold and other parts and awaiting gaskets and other parts to arrive. Oh, I must say, the www, what a wonderful resource it is, especially for those of us from the bush, however I still have all the repair manuals for every car I've ever owned and many others.

G'day,
recently joined the forum and this is my first post introducing myself. My every day drive is a stock BA ute and we also have a 1957 Fairlane Hardtop on club plates and a project XP wagon which is being turned into a panel van, we have fitted a couple of Ranchero doors and taken a couple of inches out of the roof and filled in the side glass areas. Still deciding on running gear at this stage, will post up some questions in that regard as soon as I find the right spot. We are in Bayswater, Vic and have a small shop where we mainly do body and paint on Rods, Customs, Resto's etc.

Haven't had a ford in over 30yrs sorry to say but now in the last couple of months I've scored two of them. First is a daily driver 6cyl 5 speed au ute and the second is a 302 zk fairlane that I plan to tidy up into a nice streeter for weekend cruzin.

Hello I am new to this.
I have just purchased a 2013 Territory SZ TS 2.7 DT and would appreciate some advice regarding turbo timers, and the pros and cons of using sports mode in regard to looking after the engine and its service life. Having been a farmer always liked to see a diesel motor with a comfy load but not labouring all the time seemed to be economical this way and trouble free though they may lug through a heavy patch every so often.
Not sure if i am in the correct place to post this but shall give it a go and see what happens.

HI to everybody on this forum this is a great place..

Aaron here from Perth lover of all fords new and old.. for the last 24 years I've been a hard-core big block ford man in mostly xa and xb's ..but over the last ten years or so I have started to like the look and awesome performance available from some great late model fords we have..i was very tempted when the BA fords came out beautiful shape with tuff turbo's and v8's.. then the BF just as nice.. then the FG with the supercharged v8 so I gave in and bought my first new none carbureted ford a GS ute.
