The standard stuff is as good as it gets. The only thing you could look as is using late ED - early EL rocker gear.

thanks for that guys. it's just that the valve blew the lifter straight through the rocker so i gotta get a new one. plus it had a ticking noise around 5 and 6 and i heard that that is because of the rockers cutting a groove into the shaft they run on. is that true?

You can bolt ef/el rocker gear straight onto any 3.9L/4.0L block, no difference, just newer, slightly better design and hopefully no lifter ticking.

Also you can mix and match EA and EF/EL complete rockers (with a little bit of modding when you get stuck )

geez, my lifters are noisy as some times. does this mean my rocker gear will soon be f##ked?
i have also had a really loud lifter noise on start up, that goes away after 10-30secs or so. what could this be?

sounds like its taking a long time to get oil up to your valvetrain. leave that alone and your rocker gear will be rooted sooner rather than later.

there is a product that is supposed to help fix noisy lifters, from what i have seen on the forums those that have used it, have been happy with the results.

ther resson u'l b hearing a ticking noise is because one of you'r liffer's is dead
it makes the noise coz he lifer wont hold compression n e more (oil not geting up ther)

i no i got one:(

but do an oil change and that might help with the ticking

also a trick for young players... ea-eb series 1, and very early series 2 have 14mm lifters...

from then on, remainder of series 2 eb's onwards to el have 11mm lifters...

found this out when i ordered Rollin some after i got mine... i had 11mm, but Rollin (Series 2 EB XR6) had 14mm lifters..

i have 11 new 14mm lifters for sale if anyone is interested let me know... ford want $50 each, i will take $15 each... they are brand spankers...
