Question Hunting idle when cold

Hey guys. I have a 1996 ford mondeo lx. It's idles poorly when the engine is cold, between 2000rpm and almost stalling point (some times it does). Does anyone know what could be causing this and how to fix it? She's got 192 xxx Kms on the clock and am planning to have a new timing belt put on. When the car is warmed up the erractic idle stops, this usualy takes around 3 minutes. Could this be the MAP sensor? Also I'm in Australia. Thanks

Could be a coolant temp sensor.

Your best bet is to take it to a workshop, it could range from EGR valve/Vacuum leak/O2 sensor/IAC valve/coolant temp sensor as mentioned above/ Throttle body/coolant blockage to throttle body. Quite a range of things tbh.

Almost certain that era Mondeo had a reasonable OBD I or II interface for being able to read & determine error codes. Saves a lot of guess work.
