Default XR5 servicing costs

Hi guys looking at buying an XR5 and the missus would like to know what it's going to cost her to service it on average etc it's done 98,000 on the clock and is there anything to look for in particular or to worry about with them or are they pretty good.

Look it up on the Ford site. All their prices are available to look over.

There is also a 'log book service' site that matches your service requirements with mechanics in your area and has prices and work needed for most models.

Without wanting to promote another site the fordxr5turbo.com forum is probably the best place for you to research. I am a member there too and from memory the front hubs were problematic, although if a car was prone to it it would have been replaced by now. Clutch pedal dropping to the floor overnight was another. Nothing major comes to mind.

tuning wise biggest flaw in the design is the liners on the xr5. -not as strong as the RS. Only tends to become a problem when running high levels of boost.
Front hubs aren't really a massive problem, but is viewed as one as a few owners have had issues. In the grand scale of things its a very small % of owners that have had issues.
When tuned the clutch tends to give up - replace with an RS item and flywheel.
Clutch pedal drop tends to be the slave cylinder but this does tend to happen to owners who "rest" their foot on the clutch pedal slightly whilst driving instead of totally off the pedal and on the floor.

Service cost wise the most expensive is when your plugs are due. Don't skimp on it.
