Default Painting my Wheels

Folks,
I have a set of Zetec 17" Wheels that I want to paint black.
See how the lip of the wheels includes the 'lugs' that appear to hold each of the 5 legs of the star pattern in place?

Well do you reckon I should leave the lip and the lug bits unpainted, or just the lip itself?

Does this make sense?

Fredo :togo:

I reckon if you're going powder coating, go anthracite. It's a dark grey colour that looks like absolute sex on rims. And go the whole rim, not in parts. My $0.02!!

Man I really like the car that wheel is attached to :P

Personally I think the machined bit around the outside makes the wheel and wouldn't touch it but it's hard to say without seeing the rest of it painted.

With a dark colour just make sure they don't look like they are covered in brake dust when they are clean.

Haha . . you know, I Googled 'Focus Zetec Wheel pics" and I just cropped, copied and pasted the first image that came up.

I didn't realise it was your car! :

Yeah mate bloody oath. I reckon it'd look awesome. Colour coded cars look awesome. Get anthracite rims and while you've got them there, powder coat your calipers in red or something. A colour that stands out. Or put a strip of red on the outside of one of your spokes on the powder coated rims. Sexy!!!

Is this what you were originally on about?

If so, you'd have to go paint. You cant mask powder coat. Ooor, you could powder coat, and as long as the powder is not heavily silicone based, you can paint over that.
So silver over the dark grey.

Seems like a lot of work?

Hey thanks Leakey!
Geez I wish I had the ability to photoshop . . .
So if I do something like this I need to paint, okay.
What if I was to just leave that .25" lip, against the tyre, polished and everything else dark grey?
Do you think that would look okay?

Ta Mate,
I think the calipers need to be blue like the blue in the Ford badges.
Everything else on this car is grey or black . . . hmmm maybe black calipers then???
