Ok, here goes. I know what they are, but what do they do? What sort of engines do they work on? Would it work on the i6? I can get a cheap one thats all, what do you guys reckon it would be like? Good idea or not? Please feel free to post your own opinion on this as I want some genuine ideas and thoughts. Thanks guys.

meant for the V8 motor .... and mounted directly above the intake runners between the rocker covers.
On an I6 ... I doubt it would give much gain though .. can be plumbed to fit though ... but really should be accompanied with "that V8 rumble". But the choice is yours ... might be too much hassle to try and adapt it to the I6 motor though. If it was me though ... I wouldn't do it on an I6 .... if it was a V8 though ... the thought might cross my mind .... especially with a BA bulge on an AU XR8 (ala Falkeen styleeee)

There is one already fitted to an AU XR6 - I'm sure the pics are in this section or the showroom section. The big benefit is that you get nice cold air, they look tough, and...well, they look tough. I think you need to fit the AU bulge bonnet to make it fit though - not 100% on this.

The old shakers were on the old 351, and were only there bacause of the 'ram air' principle (speed of the car would force air into the engine resulting in more power).
If you were to fit one to your car you still need to keep the original intake plumbing hooked up (this is the way new ones are fitted), and there only there for looks (no power gain), as a cold air intake gets you the air that the motor uses. cheers |

they belong on cars from the 70's mabie some 80's onces , but just look so so so so very wrong on newer cars.. BUt it would work j

just to clarify a few points, no bludge required,fits under standard bonnet. dont know if there is a increase in kw(no b4 or after dyno),but have now moved pod filter directly into shaker with approx 10cm of intake pipe from throttle body as in old school shaker set up,so filter is in direct cold air(is not running any other induction)and the throttle response has significantly improved.certainly feels from seat of pants that an increase of power was gained.Have returned monty's pm.
I certainly dont want to get into another shaker/no shaker poo fight,just supplying info which was asked for, and besides,there is another band wagon coming in a few days,I might try and get on that one as I have been on this ride b4.  :
