Angry Rough Ridding Au Ghia Help"

i have an 99Au fairmont ghia and find it rides like truck.
i have had new tyres fitted and shockers replaced all round.
The suspension has been check and nothing has been found to need repairs.
its as if you are ridding on coragated iron and when taking sharp corners at any speed it feels as if the rear is jumping side ways.
yes it has irs rear.
does anyone know the reason for this or has had similiar problem :

first thing i would be checking is the tyre presures they need to put more presure in to seat the bead maybe 40 or 50 pounds perhaps they didnt readjust the presure, also some companies put tyre pressures up to do an alignment, same deal always check after.

Same thing happened to mine recently
Rough ride poor handling & jumping around mid corner
Pedders found that the upper rear shock mounts were broken
You will probably hear a knocking noise
It apperas to be a common fault with the AU IRS rear after doing some research on here
Had them replaced and has made a big difference
Good Luck

Thank you for reply.
Had car checked again but told munro gas shocks not suitable for falcon and have to put up with firm ride.
the car rides rough on any black top road but rides well on dirt.
My problem is it is on the front and rear.
Having Pedders look at it tommorow.

Has the car been lowered ? The stock AU Ghia shocks & springs are very soft to give a comfort ride. I would say it would be the shockers not matching with the springs.

found problem in rear to be top shocker mounts.
replaced them, now better in rear but still riding hard in front.
shockers and tyres ok.
been told to replace lower control pivot bushes.
still for top of the range ford thought it would be the best ride possible.
could you recommend an oil for the diff.

There's something really wrong here. Before I had my Ghia lowered it was one of the best riding cars I've been in, and I ran 36psi all round.

You've been to Pedders, so I assume they tested the shocks. When the shocks are stuffed the ride does deteriorate a lot, and it gets very skittish over corrugations, etc. How many Ks are on it? Have the original shocks been replaced? If not, they probably need replacing. If they have been replaced, then I'd guess either the replacements are stuffed or as buickman said, they're not matched with springs correctly.

Now I've gone to XR8 springs/shocks and wheels, I appreciate just how comfortable the original setup was. And if forget, I can rely on my wife to remind me.

Well after 10 years in racecar and roadcar suspension i have not heard this before.it sounds to me that having new shocks fitted is the problem. either the old ones were realy stuffed. or the new ones are not the correct ones i.e the are topping out [in other words not long enough] so you are not getting full travel of the suspension .keep us posted on this realy curious CHEERS GREG

To redhotxr6
Pedders have tested shocks, springs, ect.
Found rear mounts shot (replaced)
Front rhs bottom control arm pivot bushes worn (replaced)
Front rhs tie rod end worn (replaced)
Car has travelled 150.000 ks.
Front and rear suspension found to be in excellent condition.
Tyre preasure tryed from 36 down to 28psi.
Like Ford to look at this one
If i ever get it right then i will let you know
