Default Cold air box from an old fridge!!

Yes it is true.Iripped the casing off an old fridge and am making a new airbox. The first attempt with my handy work looks like..pretty ugly.
The car though pulls alot harder ironically. It is so far a bit like if it tastes bitter its probably good for you.Iwas going to take a few pics but I am too embarrased to show it.So I have a few metres of fridge casing left and will show you guys when its ready.

Should give them a laugh too.Wont be long.I still retained the standard bottom end .However I just wanted to make the top a bit bigger as my pod filter no longer fits in the standard air box.

Its funny you should mention that!!

What is even funnier is that the car pulls harder than ever. Its ugly, looks bodgey but it works!!I might just leave it as is.I might even take it to drags in future with this setup. :

I doesnt look too bad.

But think about it, if your going to run it with this setup the bonnet will be closed. And noone will see it so it doesnt really matter how rough it looks.

Boys...terrible news.I took it off.Seems there was a feeling of revviness and noise,a slight pause before tremendous takeoff. However it was the fact that the cars tune had gone out.It was actually slower~!! I must do something else with this area.I must seal the area and get cold air into it.!!I will pursue it further.

Ill put a ford badge on it to make it look more stealthy. :Reverend:

btw I did use tin snips...but you wouldnt know it.Looks like my dog chewed it into shape.
Maybe I should just buy a mini bar fridge cut a hole in it stick the pipe in and plug it into an inverter. Now that will be a cold air induction!!

useless !!! great idea though , just for thought why dont you use the same materials to shield off the airbox to the motor side !! as this may actually produce decent results!!

come to think of it you could even use some of the insulation from the fridge to keep the cold air colder, longer

Get a sheet of polyurethane, then line a colourbond / stainless box or whatever with that, it's what we put in alot of fridges at work...

on my air intake base I used alloy and shape it the way I wanted it,then covered it in a fire blanket inside and out, then painted it in engine heat proof paint.you would be amazed at how rough something can look until covered and painted.the fire blanket works a real treat in keeping things cool,my air box overhangs my extractors and after a 2 hr drive can straight away pop the bonet and place hand on the bottom of my air box with out it even feeling hot,and thats on the outside,so with 3 layers as well on the inside am sure it is nice a cool..just a sugestion and it works for me.

Now you just need a "hot box" above the headers to keep the donuts warm

Actually I should weld a barbecue hotplate to the extractors. That way between runs at wsid we can cook some chops or something!! :

Seriously though,I have used thermotec wrapping in the past and underbonnet temps dropped by 15 degrees. The problem was the heat retained in the exhaust caused the head to run hotter.
