The wastegate venting to the atmosphere wont affect it boosting or not. I reckon its your timing being advanced so much.

im pretty sure i turned the timing back to the IGN mark in the end. cause i was able to fit that water hose back on in the end so it can't be advanced too much. anyway, im goin round there in about 30mins to check it all out. hopefully we can get it running sweet tonight.

One thing I have noticed, you guys have ditched the EA/EB/ED manifold for the BBM, are you going to retain this manifold when a intercooler is installed?

Splice the TPS wires together, not sure if all the colours match but just line the pins up and join them.
Looks the goods though. |

Sunny, The two sets of TPS wires can be merged together, thats what I did on my car to run the 91DA TPS.
The auto has the Blue TPS wires with colour lines... AUTO TPS ---------------- ECU TPS Blue with Green Orange Blue with Orange Green Blue with Black (i think) Black hope this was some help BTW did you attack it with a Timing light?

Yeah if/when a cooler is fitted it will be ED manifold stylez.
Tonight after the meet (which was crap) Doug and Dan came round and helped get it all going a bit better. Doug mainly did all the work, he chucked in the rising rate reg. and a extra injector, and wired up the hobbs switch for the extra injector. Then we took it for a spin to get more juice and along the way Doug kept fiddling with the hobbs switch until we got some decent boost happening. Once the hoobs switch was set we got out on the highway and gave it some stick. Pulled pretty hard from about 60. You can hear the turbo it's like sick. Anything under 60 or around 2700RPM the car runs like a bag. At full, half or low throttle it accelerates at the same rate. Our guess is that the rising rate reg. is flooding it until it hits boost. Won't even do a standy! : Anyways, got home and found the wiring loom was melting due to a glowing dump pipe and the part of the turbo that's in front of it (n00b) so we called it a day : Any ideas on what to do about the low RPM flooding? : ID I kinda don't get your post about the TPS lol :togo: Sundeep Last edited by Sundeep; 05-04-2005 at 12:21 AM. |

ok update after tonight. Today Sunny got the exhaust mated up to the turbo dump pipe for $25...not bad eh! He also traced the 'running sh*t' problem to a pin being pulled out of the number 4 injector plug. Tonight we pushed it back in and it ran heaps better. Then we set the timing again. After that the car idled fine. We hooked up the rising rate fuel reg, boost gauge and also rigged up an extra injector into the throttle body and ran that off a Hobbs pressure switch. Then rigged up a light which we stuck to the windscreen for tuning purposes so we could adjust when the pressure switch was coming on. Tuned it so the extra injector kicks in at 3psi. The car runs 5psi although there is a 6psi spring in the wastegate. Dan said once the exhaust is freed up it will get the extra pound of boost. After a bit of driving round we were suprised to see the turbine side of the turbo was glowing a bit red! Overall it goes alright for a few hrs tuning, just runs a bit rich down low.

its looking good sunny. all you need to do with the TPS is do what Rob said. put the plugs next to each other and match each wire to the same position then merge into the newer plug. i did it a couple of days ago when i converted my EA to MPFI. id get a pic but its all taped up now.
