Hey guys i'm having trouble separating the upper balljoint from the A-Frame in my EF, i'm in the process of changing my springs and this is really frustrating me. I have allready done one side and it popped out strait away. The passenger side oesn't want to budge though. It almost looks like the A-Frame has been bent in at some stage.
Anyway if there is any way to remove the front strut without separating the balljoint them that would be heaps good or any tips on separating the balljoint even better. And yes I have tried all of the heavy artillery (hammer, mallet, stilltsons lol, all the heavy crap) and no i don't have a balljoint separator, they're uselss anyway. Anyhelp appreciated as I don't want one side of my car sitting lower than the other. Here's a pic so you understand what i'm on about. |

Did you try to put the nut upside down and then bash it with a hammer? It gives it a bit more surface area.

You don't need to remove the balljoint to change springs. It's a lot easier to just unbolt the wishbone from the body, it makes getting the struts out a lot easier.

Mr. Dose undoing the A arm on an EF on the passenger side isn't fun, it's not like installing a dose pipe! this **** is hard ****. |

get a pry bar and wedge it in between the upper control arm and a arm, force the pry bar upwards and hit the ball joint post a few times and it should release. Also you can give the A arm a few taps on the side.
