i was looking at buying yella terra roller rockers, shopped around at various performance stores and got different answers which confused me more. is it worth spending the money for them cos some people say they are a waste unless ur engine is doin about 7 grand, others say they are a must have. the little i know about mechanics is that they jus help with valve bounce yeah??? if so can i jus use a tighter spring??

the idea behind them is that they can move faster with less resistance, the only real benifit of a roller rocker is at high rpm (less power needed to move them, lowers stress on most valvetrain components).
The other benifits are actually what you tend to get when you change rockers anyway. Ie you can make them lighter and/or stronger than the factory part (when it's lighter you can run at higher rpm without running into valve float. Lets you run a lower valve spring rate.), and you can make them a different ratio to open the valves further. Kinda like getting a cam with more lift. Do these cars already have roller cam followers? I know the 6cyl's do... cya Ben |

the 6's already have them. v8's however are a different story.

yes, the i6 has roller rockers LTDHO.
There is no benefit with changing the rocker assembly on an I6. Change the valve springs, cam and make the head flow more..

Hmm true... I might use that line at macca's one day... But a cam, that means a hot cam most of the time, no?
That said, an EF cam is apparently a big upgrade to the ea-d's... |
