Default is it eb2 or eb1

hey all im in a pickle

my car has

eb 2 s interior including seats, and trims, has 6" speakers behind front doors which replaced stock 6" ones.

has eb 2 s rear garnish

ABS from factory

4.0l engine

however its build date is 8/92 and it has a plate saying "FORD FALCON EB SEDAN" or something like that do eb2's have "FORD FALCON EBII SEDAN" on their plates?

it also doesnt have smartlock. there isnt even the icon in the cluster.

it has factory cruise also if that makes a difference

also came with those 5 spoke wheels also found on eb xr6's(not sure what years etc but u know which ones im talking about)

It's definately an EBII. Early EBIIs didn't get smartlock. Also, I drive an EAII but my build plate says EA Falcon, so I'd say it's the same for EBII. The biggest giveaway is the 4.0 litre. EB series 1s got the 3.9

Its proberly a transition model... My old NC had all the series 2 bits, but didn't have smartlock.

Smartlock wasn't actually introduced at the same time as series 2, it was a few months before it was introduced.

Actually, being an 8/92, it would be a series 2... the NC was built before yours and was an early series 2.

Yep. The 4.0 litre arrived with the first of the EBIIs. The EB1 is basically an EAII with a few subtle styling changes. There weren't many mechanical changes. The mechanical changes happened with the EBII

There was a transition phase however if its a 4.0l its EB2. At the end of the transition all EB's ended up with a centre 3 point seatbelt in the rear however the early EB2's didn't.

I had an EB2 V8 and it didn't have the 3 point centre seatbelt.

From memory EB II was launched around March 1992, the Smartlock update came around September '92, and the lap/sash rear belt was fitted from early '93.

EB2 also had a smooth finish dark grey plastic for the exterior door handles and the windscreen wipers were recessed a little, EB1 had a raised plastic bonnet to windscreen shroud.
