Hi all,
My neighbour and I are going to instal some courtesy lights in the front footwells of his AUII and we intended soldering all the wiring joints, instead of just twisting them together etc, so he bought a "Solder Gun" from an Aldi store. I have never seen one of these before, and the instructions say it can be used for resoldering on printed circuit boards etc, and burning names and things into wood. Nothing there to say it can be used for soldering wiring together. I have used the normal soldering iron, which I don't own anymore, but have no idea if this thing will do the job. Can anyone tell us whether this Solder Gun can be used to join wiring or should he go and buy a normal soldering iron.  :Last edited by Chippar; 21-04-2007 at 12:33 PM. |

Given that it's 150watts, I reackon that it will do the job quite easily. The only trouble you may have is it may make the wire too hot and overheat the solder, then the join may come apart.
