The adaptive shift is adaptive, and the other one's not. Meaning the XR6 tunes itself to your driving style, a bit.

3 different modes, performance, economy and adaptive shift

performance basically revs it right out and will change gears harder than usual

economy is grandma spec and as the name suggests is biased towards best economy

adaptive shift is a strategy whereby the gearbox "adapts" to your driving style i.e. if you're putting round town it will change nice and easy, but if you ramp things up a bit it will get firmer.

Personally I leave mine in Performance mode.
