have you guys got a pair of helmets? and a drag strip nearby?
go do some runs? I smoked a few cars out willowbank well there, but its all about the setup. gearing, transmission type and condition, tyres and grip levels, how much fuel is in the tank, how much you weigh, wind resistance...
I could go on.

Go down the drags with the timeslips you get you will know for sure.

bmw may win to 80 but i think the ea would come back.

mainly beacause of the weight factor. but i dont know. depends on the bmw. and of course the usual condition of the car issues.

arent all is manual?

what tranny in the ea?
if both are in good condition the is should win to speed limit then the ea would start creeping back but not at a blistering speed.

Funny that torque never entered the equation.

I used to work at a BMW dealer. 318is is a posers sports car. They handle well and are very stable at high speed. Near perfect weight distribution - pop the bonnet and see how far back the engine is set. It's actually a 1.9 litre twin cam engine - good power for the size but torque is well down on a 3.9 mpfi. Sadly in a straight line its not going to make you tingle.

Me thinks he was blinded by the badge taking you on. Hasn't he been in a taxi lately and felt the surge as mohammad put his foot down overtaking a tram ?

Nicely put.

True about the torque. Same could be said about the aurion's engine which has less torque than a mpi ea..

The aurion would wipe the floor with the ea however.

318's are a crack up, and so are their owners. Always good to see the ones with the M badge on.

They are good for what they are, I would have thought a 4spd EA could deal with one easily enough. But thats 325's (or whatever they are) have a bit of poke.

noo footage this time but it will happen again. understanding the ea has a stuffed transmission and only has 1 and 3rd gear operating in that race. that was the reson for hesitation at the start. once power was activated it picked up very nicely id have to say..
