Default not your usual thread topic

just wanted to know if any of you guys have owned or either own or have riden honda's cbr250rr or kawasaki's zx2c and was wondering what your thoughts are on these two 250cc bikes. Both cost about the same and im not sure as to which way i should go

I haven't driven the kawassaki but when I test drove the Honda, it was that gutless I stalled it doing a U turn. However the gears where smooth and it was easy to drive, aslong as you ride the clutch. I have found that the bigger the bike the easier they are to drive, have you concidered a 600cc or bigger. I would go for the Honda out of the two bikes, I dont even have a kawassaki dealer in my area, so I assume Honda service is better.

its possible he wants a 250 because of the restrictions that are in place for L and P plate riders.

I think it stalling had nothing to do with the bike. Clutch in!

Ive got a cbr250R but its pretty much the same bike. I ride it work everyday and havent had any problems but havent ridden a kawa so I cant compare.

yhe 250cc is the max capacity for l and p platers here in vic
when you said the cbr felt gutless is that in bike terms or in general terms
i am told these cbr's run mid to high 13's on the quarter mile!
not bad for a 0.25ltr inline 4 cylinder engine !!!

They will run a flat 14 or thereabouts. Not much quicker but a lot of that depends on the rider.

I ran my mates cbr in my falcon which ran a 13.6 and it was dead even till 130 then I started pulling away on him.

They are faster than most cars but not as fast as decent fast cars.

Get a 2 stroke! They are usually faster than the equivalent 4 stroke. Plus they sound phat and smoke everyone out!

I haven't ridden the Kwaka, though I have ridden the CBR.

As far as 250's go, the CBR's are excellent, and if I had to do my time again, the CBR would be at the top of my list.

They handle and stop excellent, and they can cruise at freeway limits with out problems.

Sure they're gutless compared to bigger bikes, but that stands to reason. However compared to ZZR's, GPX's, etc, they are leaps and bounds ahead.

In QLD you can go strait to an open licence if you go through a riding instructor such as Q-Ride, is there no such thing down south? (p.s. dansedgli, Bigger bikes don't need the accelerator to take off they will pull away without riding the clutch, but smaller bikes need more revs. Try driving Big bikes then go back to a smaller one, bigger bikes need less babying).

Nope down here we need to be on L's for 3 months minimum, then on P's for a year then only after that can we have something bigger than 250.
