I know plenty As long as vicroads don't need to see the car, you're laughing!

Yeah but a roadworthy accompanies the car.. I doubt a vic roads inspector is going to notice a well welded k-frame cross member..

waaaay back when it was done, it wasnt really well known how to do it..... so the k frame front crossbrace was cut out, with a new piece to be welded in infront of it, to give around 10/15mm more clearance...
it would have been perfectly fine, as its not really all that much of a structural brace...(its only 10x10 tube isnt it?) and welding it across the front of the k frame would be just as strong as it welded in its standard location...
it would have worked just fine.

looking back though, if it was known you could shave the front of the sump to achieve the required clearance, it more than likely would have been done that way

Is this what you found when you did the conversion?

Got any pics?

not saying it wouldent work im sure it would work fine as long as the wields are done proper.

but when it comes to RWC and Vic road related side of it, id imagin it be a bit of a pain to get it cleared as you would need an enginers saying the k-frame is fine and is structualy sound.

grinding the sump is somthing no one would notice and would pass a RWC np's (even at the most stringent RWC place)

im just saying one way of doing it is alot easyer then the other
