Default Might be hard to answer these, but...?

Ok, Im really hoping to get my EL XR6 by my birthday, but i have some questions about respray and body things.

Firstly, I know this one will be hard to answer, but as I said in my last post the XR6 has a bit of sun damage, on the bonnet and the clear coat pealed of the rear wing. It also has a small amount of body damage, over the rear arch, looks like a car park misshap, it looks easy fixed tho. Anyway, I want to eventually get it resprayed, to a blue colour like a light blue, maybe the BA metallic XR colour, or something, but my quetion is how much (very guesstimated) would it cost t have it done? just so i know what im looking at.

Second is it doesnt have a body kit, just the wing and XR front, no side skirts or anything, I thought they had all that standard? How much do they go for?

And does changing the colour of a car reduce its value? my dad preachesit does, and that everything must be original. but from what i have seen it can go either way, if its not original it can be just as valuable if its done neat and tidy, am i right?

Oh heres what im looking at
My XR6

Body kit im after

Colour there abouts

thanks heaps

IMO. They're not worth enough now days to bother keeping them original. If your going to the trouble of spraying it, you may as well do it a color you like.

100% agree.

For a decent respray you're looking at 2k plus, for a colour change you need to allow for more depening on how far you want to go - eg door jambs, engine bay etc etc. As a minimum you'd want to do door jambs as colour changed cars look extremely dodgy once you open the doors without this done.

yeah, what he said.

paint will depend on the colour, for example is it a ford/ferrari/bmw colour. i wanted to paint a mini i had years ago original british racing green but would have cost $$$$$$$ to buy the paint owned by BMW. It will also depend on wether it is a metallic colour or not. i'd recommend a 2-pac paint, cheaper, easier to colour match if you have a prang etc. and easier to look after.

also if you have it resprayed, get the panel beater to make a few extra litres if you choose a metallic colour or custom colour.

I was looking into the same kit.
for the bar extensions F&R, sideskirts, and the little door panel things was $814 from Fibresports. (site sponsors)
Hope that helped.

Dont be povo and not do the engine bay and door jams, thats crap.

If you have the cash for a respray then save/spend a bit more and do it right.

If its the original colour then, and only then you can get away with it IMO.

original colour you can get away with a cloed door respray,,but to change it you honestly have to do the whole lot.
