I want to buy a pos car just to practise mantainance on it.
There's an EA I'm looking at with The engine out of it (head warped, block and transmission fine, piston rings stuffed etc). I'm not looking to do it up since that'll cost more than it's worth, just to learn of then perhaps sell as parts. I don't want to hire a tow truck since they cost a fair bit. Is there a legal way I could tow it myself on our car? We got a Diesel 4WD that can tow 2.5 tonne |

Hire a trailer or hire a tow truck, by the time you factor fuel, hire and time cost, most the time a tow truck will work out cheaper

best over 40km with your 4wd is hire a trailer! and take it yaself. tow trucks are way to expensive for that distance

Yup get a trailer, should only cost about $75 for a day anyway.

Looks like you are getting a trailer.
I picked up my XR and that was over 40 klms away (more than double actually) and I used a trailer. Make sure you have a good tow car, make sure the trailer is in good nick ie tyre pressues, bearings. Also secure the towed car down tight.

a few mates and i have pulled a LX torana about 20km with a patrol and a snatch strap... we were going about 10km/h tho as the car had been stolen and damaged so we took it easy...

I think the full engine weighs about 250KG, so you might be lucky if the head is off.
