Yeah, that's what I'd expect if I turned up in my Escort, people will probably have a good laugh and suggest I should get a real engine, but it's not as if that that'll stop me when I think it's ready...

Congrats Neb, that's an awesome time, well done mate!

nice work ben! thats a damn awesome time mate! i can only dream about getting my boat down the strip anywhere near as quick! i havent come within two seconds as yet! i would have killed to see the looks on peoples faces too, that would have been about the best thing about it!
i reccon the only thing that would get me even close to a 15 second pass would be a hair dryer!
again, well done ben

Well done mate! That's a really good time, especially for your first time out. I've got to make it out to Calder one night. Some cold air would be good, I'm sick of racing in 30 deg heat at Heathcote.

For sure neb, I have to get a few mods in before I take it to calder, will for sure let you know when I'm goin so we can both run.

What are your plans for the new engine rumours that have been goin around?

Was that time with stocks or alloys on back?

that was with 14inch stockies that I got for free... but still the track was really grippy it didn't even spin just chirped off the line.

new engine plans are a wade 1521a cam, major headwork, and au bottom end. the only thing i'm actually using from my engine now will be the vernier cam gear and bolt on accessories and manifolds. also i've got a unichip that will be going in once the new engine is in. i'm not too sure how much power it will make but i'm hoping for around 160rwkw or more... and hopefully get down to mid 14 quarter miles... but we'll see what happens. Should hopefully be together by the r31 vs e-series heathcote drags in August if all goes to plan!

Congratulations Ben & Shane
glad to hear you had a great night even with the carnage that was there on the night

Casper remember this, its not just about running quicker its also about consistancy, look at a "Super Gas" car they have a 9.90 index & if they carnt run a consistant 9.90 then its all over for them, most of them will run a 9.40 lat out but if they do that in compertition then they will end up on the trailor

its all about haveing fun & enjoying yourself

remember most people either go to the football or baseball on a friday night for fun, thats cause football & baseball only require one ball

regards
rod

There certainly was some carnage, with the 150mph wall slapper and then the mobile
Grenade!

As for consistently, well, the car is a little off the pace at the moment (I’ll find out why soon I hope) but its as consistent as it gets. I only got 5 runs and the first and last were tests. First run was not stalled up at all (15.47), 2,3,4th runs were all 15.3x, 5th run I pulled the chip for a test, ran a 15.57 – could really feel the difference too!

So in one way I’m annoyed that it’s a bit off the pace but it is consistent, not jumping all over the place. Consistent is good for a base to work from.

What is funny is that by the last runs I knew EXACTLY where the dead spots were, you actually get so in tune with the car you can feel where every 10th is lost. With that info I can now go and get them sorted and come back stronger. Considering the issues are the same as they used to be and the car hasn’t had a finger lifted on it since November, that’s no surprise at all.

Sorry I couldn't make it to Calder for your debut run, Ben, too much work stuff to do (as you know).

See I told you it was fun.

I'm sure I'll catch you on another night now :

Once again, congrats with the 1/4 mile run, you did wagons proud.

All the best with the new engine, can't wait to see it with new power behind it.
