Default Have you checked your clutch cable or Oxy Sensor lately?

hey all..

reminder

1.Check your clutch cable! I checked mine the other day and for some reason it was close to the extractors and had melted away... took it out today and put the new 1 in and it was such a difference.. the old 1 was so rough.. the new one so smooth. Always keep a spare in the boot as well.. the previos owner had 2 bugger up on him when he was out in shit creek... not good...

2. Oxy sensor! - geee what a difference.. nice settled idle.. and your eyes will no longer water from the smell of lean mixture!

just a couple little maintenance reminders.. and trust me they are worth it..

oh and to put them in takes the best part of 60 seconds

1. open bonnet..
2. look under exhast manifold and its a little plug screwed in before cat..
4. follow the lead (about 6 inches) and squeeze plug to unplug
5. get open ender/shifter/etc and loosen it.
6. undo with fingers.
7. put new oxy sensor in loose with fingers
8. tighten up
9 plug in again.
10. all done!

how much you pay for your clutch cable sant0 ?

Maybe my oxy sensor is buggered, though i seemed to get good economy on the recent meet/cruise, used 1/3 of a tank.

While we are on the subject of clutches, how do u adjust the clutch so the 'friction point' is closer to the floor and you dont have to go as far out? If i remember correctly it was something to do with some screws where the cable comes through the firewall?

Anyone care to explain how its done? and is it easy to do?

I've got some heatproofing wrap if ya want it ;) ;) get some hose clamps & have the wrap nice & snug around the cable...

I'm using that stuff over my cable bracket for the BA shifter, and it's stopping the zip ties from melting (bracket is mounted between a cat & the tranny box) :0

I won't be going to Melbourne for another couple of weeks though... Damn assignments.

It's pretty easy to do, just find where the clutch cable comes through the firewall, and there is a nut on the thread there. Turn that and it will move the thread further out from the sleeve it sits in. I usually just play around with mine and move the car back and forwards until I get the spot that feels just right.

The easy way to adjust the clutch, you should beable to pull the cable out 10mm from the firewall before it goes tight. if it doesn't pull out that far (or at all) back off the nut a bit.
