I'm about to go up to the Gold Coast during Christmas time and looking for a a place near the Gold Coast, Brisbane, areas to go snorkeling.
Does anyone know a good place for a tour? Great Barrier Reef is to far as I'm driving up there. |

old women island off sunshine coast is ok. need a boat. of the shore at yaroomba is alright.there is a reef not far off the headland you can paddle too. its all very boring compared to what up north has. i gave up round the sunnycoast even when i had a boat. the fishing was better.lol

Catch a ferry over to moreton island from brisbane, excellent snorkelling along the curtin artificial reef about 100 metres off shore from tangalooma. You can also feed the dolphins there as well.
If u have a boat, cook island off tweed heads is good, although can be big currents. Around burleigh headland, or in the seaways.

You really want a buzz, throw an extra couple of hundred in the kitty and go snorkling with the sharks at 'Shark Bay' inside Seaworld

For an instant grab you can snorkel in the tropical pool at the Marriot Resort at Main Beach. It's an artificial tropical lagoon with real coral and tropical fish.

Wave break island at the northern end past seaworld has some good diving, the seaway may be interesting, and the points (burliegh, greenmount etc) when the swell is small
