My girlfriend is planning on buying an ef xr6. I know nothing about them. Is there a site i acn actually read up on these cars, and does this sound reasonable. It is an 95 model, 207,000klms.mags and the tickford wings on it, $7,000.00.I Personally havent seen it yet,but for those that do have one is there any thing that i should look for in particular,(bad points defects).
I am going to have a look tomorrow so any(quick) replies would be much appreciated. : |

HMMM not a girly car at all!
I like the sound of you girlfriend. They are a good model the EF XR6 but at 200,000k the condition is more important than the model. Usual cyl head problems check water in oil and rear of cyl head area for leaks. If Auto check shift into gear is quick and firm. You would only want to pay $6k with only 150,000kms as thats about the best trade in price you could get for this car in good nick. Still condition is all important its 10 years old now! |

hey Nighthawk, just for comparison i bought a ef xr6 bout 4 months with 135,000k's on it 5 speed and a few look good mod, for $12,000 it had a little bit of rust on boot where it sits on the back window rubber,,heard that was quite common ???? anyway i loves mine :hihi:

Probably an alright price for a series one with that many km's? Is it manual, if so even better _2:
Yeah just like others said look for signs of headgasket on its way out (coolant, oil seeping down the side of the block etc). See if it has a service history might give you an idea on how well its been looked after. Also remember to check with your states traffic authority to make sure the car doesnt have any money oweing on it or it wasn't a repairable writeoff. Two of the ef/el XR6 i looked at turned out to be listed as repairable writeoff :gren: |

Sad as it is for what was a very nice quick car in its day a 95 EFI XR6 would only get you $6k as a trade in.
Buying privately people always WANT more but this is what they do get traded for. Good ones get sold privately for more of corse and the bad ones get traded so its a bit of what you pay is what you get too. |

Trade in prices aernt a guide for what you should be paying for a car. Even if the car was traded in for 6k they'll still be flogging it off at 7-9k. I would assume for 7k it would be average condition. As most 200 000km EF XR6 are still at around $10 000 if you look in your local trading post. |
