Default Driving along at 60km/h, stuck it in 1st....

The other day I was in a hurry to get to work so I was trying to get past all the slow cars on the highway and I wasnt really paying attention to the shifter more on the cars around me and I was supposed to stick the gearbox in 3rd but it went into 1st accidently.
Now the tacho shot straight up to 6000rpm and I thought the engine was gonna break or something but I quickly got it into 3rd maybe a second later.

Nothing came of it but I was just wondering if I could've hurt something in the drivetrain or engine?

If something broke you would know about it by now.

Did you get compression lock? If not I wouldn't really worry. I've gone 3rd to second and had the diff lock up on me and gave a little chirp (learnt to heal and toe after that, go figure). I'm surprised that if it did rev to 6g that you didn't feel the load on the clutch first, that or was just flustered with traffic and didn't really notice. Either way, you should be cool.

How'd you manage that? In the auto, Neutral should be between Drive and Reverse! Were you trying to put it in neutral at 70km/hr?
