Default What should i ask for my wrecked fairmont.

Well my beloved 94 EF 302 fairmont has been written off. Long story short I got hit in the rear end about 3 weeks ago while parking, the other persons fault and her insurence has covered everything. The damages aren't huge and could be fixed but because of the age of the car it was decided better to just write it off.

I had the option of giving the car to the insurence mob and getting the insurence amount and a wreckers amount. Or just the insurence amount and keep the car. I chose to keep the car and get the slightly smaller amount.
I now ask the question what should i ask for my car. Its a 94 Fairmont, good interior, 220ks on the clock, in all round good nick, excluding the boot and rear quater panels rest of car is very straight.

Is $2000 to much to ask for the whole car. Please note im NOT trying to sell the car here i have honestly got no idea what I should ask for my car. I don't want to put 2000 on it when i could get more, or put 2000 on it when its worth less.

I think you would make more off it wrecking it yourself, and once its a shell pay the towies $100 to get rid of it

To me a EF GLI in good condition is worth around $1500 to $2000. I wouldn't count on getting $2000 for a written off fairmont for a wholesale.

Wrecking it would but your best bet, $1000 for the 302 conversion would be a good start, $300-$500 for the stronger V8 Automatic Gearbox, if you have power windows $300-$500 for the interior and $300 for the 15" rims with good tread. Plus all the little bits and pieces people ask for like badges and exterior mirrors/ handles.

Agreed, this would be your best option - then you will find out very quick what ppl want to pay for it

Definitely ebay mate. Destroyed cars seem to go for crazy prices on there. Anywhere else and I personally would pay around 1k and not much more.

If you have the time, and you are patient enough to put up with the majority of enquiries being from time wasting dreamers, as well as numerous sales falling through, then you can make significantly more wrecking it.

If you wreck it I'm interested in the door trims, all the electric window bits and pieces and the center console.. Only if u wreck it yourself...

Here is the baby, just sold her today. $1500, with me keeping the mags, tyres, spoiler, seats, spotlights and sound equipment.

Yeah well the seats are going into my maverick, the mag and tyres are going to my cousin for $600, spotlights one set to my mum's car and one set to the girl's car. So the car is gone only 3 weeks after the accident.

With the money from the insurence, and selling the shell and mags i'm a fair bit ahead of when i brought the car 10 months ago. Only problem is i no longer have a v8. But looking at getting a v twin instead. I still have a ford though.
