first the simplest thing. i hope you've got fuel in the tank ;)

secondly, triple check your fuel lines to make sure they're setup correctly, this is likely the problem.

if you are 150% certain the lines are setup correctly, just go through the typical troubleshooting steps for fuel:

since you've said there is no fuel being discharged into the carby, firstly disconnect the incoming fuel line from the carby and put a container underneath it, remove the dizzy rotor so the car won't start and have a mate turn the car over, observe if there is an even amount of fuel being discharged into the container.

if there is no fuel being discharged, disconnect the incoming fuel line to the fuel pump and blow down it. have a mate put an ear to the filler hole and see if he hear can the fuel bubbling in the tank. if you can't the fuel line is obstructed, if you can, your fuel pump is rooted.

not too sure sterling as my esky has a sierra efi setup and that's how i bought it, not familar with the original carby setup. your best shot for escort specific help is the forums at either:

classicford.mine.nu

or
