Getting out Plugs on V8? wtf?!

This will sound like a stupid problem, and it is, Well i Need to do a compression test on my AU V8..

I have a spark plug remover tool "thingy" and several sockets, and i cant get the bloody plugs out! The tool is fairly thin walled but i cant even feel the err "thread" for the tool or my sockets to catch onto, i dont want to keep trying and risk having the plugs stuck in there..My old mechanic used to tell me my plugs were fine and didn't need changing, could they have been tightened too much that they are stuck?! Or is there some other sort of plug remover tool i need?

wtf?!?! help appreciated ASAP before i set fire to this car!

I havent done plugs on my 5.0l yet but have you got the right size socket? There are 2 sizes and I'm guessing these would use the larger one.

Yeah i have the right size, i dont know if it makes any different but i have aftermarket heads..

Arrgghhh this is a stupid problem to have!

The plugs on mine were a nightmare to get off too, expect to squeeze and contort your hands into some tight spots to get them out.

Just use a 16mm sparkplug socket out of a half inch socket set with a 2,3 and 5inch extension and double check that your turning it a anti clock wise direction ,the 16mm sparkplug socket should have a rubber gromit in side it and is about 65 to 70 mm long
you,ll find that it will make a bit of a crack at the start meaning its just a little rust or carbon build up ,
A half inch set will on a 1/4 inch set

AFAIK the 302/347 have the small socket sparkplugs, the 6s have the large socket sparkies.

best way i found was using 3/8 set with 1" wobble extension (not universal joint) and breaker bar to crack the set, after that u can almost unscrew them by hand.

with aftermarket alloy heads i recommend to use some graphite grease on the new spark plug threads so they wont seize in, in cast heads its not as much of an issue.
