Late on saturday evening i had a go at replacing the oil in my au 6 cyl.
5min job i thought. I pulled the sump plug out, and not knowing it at the time - the rewind as well. When reinstalling the plug, it threaded the alloy sump, between the sump and rewind surface. any ideas how to fix. At the moment we have fabricated a hard plastic sleave that does the job for the moment, but i havent allowed the car to get overly warm just in case the plastic softens and pops out again. I have rang ford and several auto shops and they dont have an oversized plug listed for this engine. |

They don't have an OS plug for an AU 6...bs. I got an OS plug in my 8 easily. Anyone with a half a clue will be able to do it for you.

Thanks for your help guys. It is now fixed. Ended up retapping it and using a recoil. Along with a new standard sump bolt and its come up a treat. Isnt it nice when things just work.
