Default ED Sprint- Windsor, Clevo or Tickford engine?

Just trying to clear things up- seems there is a mixed consensus on the internet regarding what motor is in the Sprint- one Ford site says it's a Clevo while others are saying it's a Windsor, meanwhile it's sportin' a Tickford badge.

So which is it?

Taken from a trusted & known to be correct site ;)

Model: ED XR8 Sprint
Build Dates: August 1993 - July 1994
Engine: 5.0L HO OHV SEFI V8
Transmission: Manual T50D 5 speed, Auto BTR 95LE electronic dual mode 4 speed
Colours: Le Mans Red, Black Pearl, Dynamic White, Cobalt, Polynesian Green
Numbers Manufactured: Manual: 184 Auto: 172
Comments: The XR8 Sprint was regarded as a "plain clothes GT". It utilised many of the GT engine and suspension components yet was packaged in a discreet and lighter body.

There is a bit of confusion about with different articles but the above is fact

Most 5.0s (and all of our 5.0's) were made at Clevelant Engine Plant 1, and Tickford put on their original Sprint brochures '5.0L V8 built in Cleveland' or words to that effect, hence the naming confusion.

That's right. It was only the AU V8s that were locally built, because by that stage, Ford and Tickford were using their stockpile before the Boss/Modular/Triton V8 was introduced.

Did Ford even add EFI to the Cleveland?

They did some type of efi in F trucks but i believe it was only a centre point setup.

The last Clevo came out in a XE Fairmont Ghia i believe. I stand corrected if this is not right.

Correct, and what a mongrel of a thing to work on!
The Yanks stopped using Clevos around '71 or '72.

Tell me bout it. Completely removed the EFI loom out of mine and now runs dedicated gas. Less hastle as EFI on F trucks is shocking
