Default Is my car the new Knightrider??

This kinda freaked me out tonight...

Recently the car has had a issue with starting. It cranks over and wants to start but doesnt unless i tap the accelerator or sometimes it takes 3 times to crank it over.

Now tonight while John_xr6 was in the car, the trip computer beeped at me when it started playing up. And apparently displayed "WARN" and flashed it twice. Its done it about 4 times so far tonight. Is my car the new knightrider and trying to talk to me?! :nutsycuck

What does this WARN mean, and has this happened to anyone else?

i think the WARN is:
WARNING.......IM FREAKING OUT!!

nah dunno but cant be good if the car is warning you not to drive it.

My car did that a couple of times.Dont know if it was related to the warn light but the crank shaft bearings where shot.

Weird!!

Actually I used to have a similar problem, I'd try and start the car and it would take a couple of mins and a bit of swearing, then it would start. The weird thing was that the smartlock would stay on and keep flashing while I was driving, the battery and oil lights would flash on and off, it freaked me out a little.

The last time it happened, The Maddestman was at work and finished his shift at 2am, he tried a few times over half an hour to start it and decided to give up and call his uncle to come and get him. His uncle arrived and he decided to double check it was locked up properly, he thought he'd give it one more go and it started!

It hasn't happened in a year and a half, hopefully it wont start doing it again any time soon.

Well my mums ea ghia did it when we first got it from auction, it flashed WARN a few times when it first started it. but hasnt done it since.

The whole not wanting to start thing i think is cause of a dodgy TFI modual

Yeah, I remember that, I also remember what we ended up suspecting was the cause, the battery was slowly dying, not to mention the terminals were growing all that white crap all over them, after that night I went and got some sandpaper and each time it refused to start for me like that, I'd pop the bonnet, clean the terminals and connectors, connect it all up and try again, and it would start no problem, that is, until the damn battery finally gave up.

2 batteries later, it should be right, hahaha. The last battery only died because it was connected but not charged for months, otherwise I'm sure it would be right. Oh well, these things happen.

Weirdest thing was that time when I was driving the Escort, got in, turned the key to start it after getting some things from a shop, car didn't start, but the tacho went nuts, so did the temp gauge, speedo would itself around past 200, and the windscreen washer motor activated itself, spraying the windscreen with water. Got out of the car, locked it up, walked away very freaked out, came back a few minutes later, started first go, no weird things at all...

Probably an electrical problem, damn you Lucas, son of satan!

LMAO @ the new knight rider.....ya bracket :evilking:

Smut's EA Ghia flashes WARN when the handbrake is still on when you take off, also on start up, which he says may be somethin to do with low oil pressure.

I think it's fairly normal on start-up, but the one time my EA did it when driving, it was giving early warning of the coolant level dropping due to a burst heater hose. There are other reasons it might beep too... I'm sure there would be a list somewhere.
