Default Playing Aftermarket Head Unit With Premium Sound?

Can you have a aftermarket head unit setup and have it running with the factory sub, amp and speakers?

I want to get rid off my 6 Cd stacker, because it aint working... :evil3:

Cheers!

I have an aftermarket head unit in mine but I also put an amp in to run the factory sub. The inputs on the factory amp aren't RCA ones so I just said stuff it and went aftermarket.

Yeah you will need an RCA converter to run the amp and sub, but with the hassle of mucking about with all the wiring, I reckon aftermarket is the way to go. You can get quality stuff for pretty cheap these days, plus stock premo sound sucks :-)

Ok, I am about chuck my 6 stacker in the garbage and get an aftermarket unit. Can someone explain what are the pros and cons of going aftermarket.

For a start I thought you still had use of all your premo speakers.

I understand that you lose the wheel controls unless you get the CAT-10. No biggie.

What about the power antenna. Are there some brands that lower it when you put on a CD and others that don't?

I don't want to hijack this thread I-STUNR. Just want some info B4 I make my purchase.

You do have use of all the speakers, just not the sub. The steering wheel controls will not work and there are some brands that won't operate the power aerial properly. I have a JVC that does work it properly but I have heard that some Pioneer and Sony don't.

Clarion H/U's operate the aerial fine, and as Russell said, Pioneer do not. Can't confirm Sony.

Hey guys, Just wondering if the single cd HU (100W) is not going to cause dramas being plugged into a premium sound system; ie: 6 speakers, amp and sub.

Nope, no dramas because you will not have connected the amp or sub as there is no provision for the Ford plug to connect to the new head unit which controls these.
