I just installed a trans cooler on the weekend, and had to work this out too; The return line is the lower of the 2 lines ie the one at the top runs the fluid from the trans to the radiator, the one at the bottom sends the fluid back to the trans from the radiator.

Easy way to tell is start the car, put it in D for 10 seconds, then turn off. The hot pipe is the supply line and the cool line is the return line.

Thanks JC. I have to be sure first go. as you would know i have had the water in auto drama. the gearbox shop said i may be lucky if i can flush the auto before i select a gear. they said to drain it first, leave it for a day or two then do the bucket trick so that as soon as the car starts the water/oil mix will hopefully pump out.
by what i have heard it wont work but its worth a try. the car only went about 10k's when i noticed the auto fluid in the water and it has been parked ever since(14 months) so you never know! |
