Need some ergent info on FORD MUSTANGS

hi guys, im currently studying FORD Mustangs that were produced in the 60's, i need some info on them but cant find much on the web, please help!!

Denko, there is probably more information on the net about the Mustang than any other car. The early Mustangs have probably the largest aftermarket for parts available. It took less than two production years to have sold 2 million of them. A car such as this has huge interest and massive resources. There's probably more books about this car than any other as well.

Do a search. If it takes you more than two minutes to find useful information I would be embarrassed. I am sure your library also has books on them.

If you need to do a research paper on them..........do the research. You can ask someone to tell you about them but then you don't get the experience of finding resources, finding which ones are reliable, how to scrutinize them, and then how to compile a good paper from a variety of sources. THIS is what your paper is about. Your teacher/professor couldn't care less about Mustangs. It is this ability to do RESEARCH and utlize what you find well that they are interested in.

Don't avoid the lesson.

not sure if you have noticed raptor but the web consists of some major bulls%^&! so thats why im asking on here! so this is doing my own research, if have nothing to contribute then don't post!

Mate, as others have already said, there's shedloads of correct information on the net about Mustangs. Ohio XB actually gave you the best advice, even if you find a bit of dodgy info, your lecturer is highly unlikely to know if it's correct or not.

With the internet, it's dead easy to do the research too, I owned 2 Mustang pre the internet and dug up endless amounts of info back then, including the impact it made.

Use the wikipedia info as a starting points, it's info is accurate enough, then search for more in depth stuff, look at it's early racing history with the Shelby GT350's, the spin off Hertz rental Mustangs then look at it's unique styling - it's long deck short hood, body panels extending below the bumper (considered a no no at the time). Throw in the little know things about the horse in its corral - it's going from right to left (we like things going left to right) to signify the 'wildness' of the defiant horse + it once held the world record for the most options available on a car too.

Obviously, the main issue to raise is it launched the 'Pony Car' class as Mr X has pointed out, essentially a compact car with a big engine.

Oh yep, it was conceived to tap into the regrowth of affluence in the USA after the war, actually aimed at females too, check out some early Mustang advertising material, probably on youtube.

At one point it actually lost the Mustang corral too, replaced during 1979 - 1992ish with a Ford oval, They where going to continue this, but if memory serves, some school children wrote to Ford and said it should have a Corral as that was symbolic with the car, ie it impacted future generations.

Iirc, it's one of the most recognisable and used cars in movies, try the www.imcdb.org website for it's movie impact.

I could go on, but that should get you going.

The library has tons of free books you can use. There are also very interesting books at bookstores. Around here we have places that sell used books at half their original price, sometimes less.

Magazines have had tons of articles about the Mustang. Many libraries have these on microfish or some other digital media.

And as far as the internet having unreliable info, sorting through that is part of the project. There is also plenty of reliable and authoritive info online. Finding and determining that is a big part of the project, that's why it's called "research".

It doesn't entail going to one spot and getting all the info right away. There are very few times in life where this will happen when you need to find out about something. Usually a number of resources have to be looked into. There's a reason that even in this internet and digital media age that books sell very well.

When I was going to rebuild my first engine the internet didn't exist. I read car magazines, went to the library and read the manuals on it, and read a couple books on it. This was my real world reasearch. It happens. You'll do it.

Read a book.
Read a magazine.
Search for a reliable internet source. They are there. Don't stop searching because it's not on the first page of your search results.
