Question Dash light dimming

undefinedundefined Does the LR focus have an instument dimmer? I have never seen a car without one,. I also noticed they dont have variable int wiper speed either. even the cheap *** getz has these. Why build a car, put cruise control and remote radio controls but no variable intermitent wipers. GRRRR.

Yes it does have a dimmer.
Have to go look at my car to remember where it is. Either a wheel where the light switch is, or stalk in the instrument cluster.

Intermittent wipers is a really easy and cheap upgrade.
Here's the part (I'm sure if you search you'll get it cheaper)

Heres' how to install it:

Quote: "Does the LR Focus have an Instrument Dimmer"?

It certainly does Rattus. You'll find it immediately to the left of the Light Switch/s and the LR also has Headlight Levelling i.e. when you have a load of passengers and gear in the boot you can lower the Headlights to the correct level.

Regards the variable intermittent..........no, doesn't have it but I use RAIN-X to help clear the screen of water.

variable intermittent wipers, or the lack thereof never worried me in my LR. But now in the LV I don't think i could go back.

Lack of cruise on the XR is another thing. It'd be nice, but honestly, it'd probably never get used.

But it does have a headlight leveler. WTF. Can I put one in?

Just on the dimmer switch again. I frequently find these on Ebay UK.
They have headlight leveling switch and instrument dimmers as well.

Now, they look like the same part for LR, LS, LT and even LV. Is that the case?

If so, my humble CL LT also has no instrument dimmer. I wonder if there is any other
control gear required? I realise there is for headlight adjusting. I really hope it's like
the intermittent wiper switch. Just plug and play.

Oh, whilst on the subject of this particular switch area, some units also have the
extra position for spot lights too. Here's a couple -

Still think it's odd that there is no dimmer. I'm sure if you fitted a Dimmer version of the switch, the wiring would be there to hook up. Not worth Ford's time and effort to remove the wiring. Possibly an odd shipment from Europe.

SR was a base model with extra post production accessories added to create a "value pak"

Hi,
First post here - just bought an 04 Zetec 5 door. I noticed mine has no dimmer too. There's a headlight angle adjusting thing and no dimmer! Anyway I find the light level OK but it's weird there's no dimmer on the Zetec model.

Cheers

Welcome iztec.
Maybe they just weren't doing the dimmer thing that day at the factory . . . those whacky Germans!! :

They do have a sense of humor, don't they? I mean I have to stick the ignition key in the grill to open the bonnet!!! :

Our LS Focus has a dash lights dimmer but our LT Focus does not
Pretty much the same car so don't know why one car does but the other one doesn't
Sounds like cost cutting to me

yea what is with that thing I was told its a necessity for a euro car that you must have the ignition key to open the bonnet and that is why its the way it is, but for us here in Australia it just smacks of weird don't it

If you're quick, here's what you're after.

I doubt it'll go for more than a couple of pounds. (about $4 AUD. Postage will be about $14 AUD)

I just got two XR5 foglamp bezels and an interior light back here for £6.90 all up.

I recently got two hand held games back here for the same amount.

Specify Royal Mail Small Packets labels and in my experience it costs £6.90 all up.

Also bought in a few fiat parts about the same size for - £6.90

If you sound like you know what you're talking about in your correspondence with them, and say the exact price, then they usually dont challenge it. Especially when R.M. confirm that price with them. (you're not supposed to make money on the postage bit now, are you!

I think "Baz" is making a motsa on his postage. Plenty of these elsewhere.
