Default Park Brake question

I went into Ford yesterday to get a new cable for the handbrake. i just wanted the short cable from the lever to where it connects under the seat under the ute. the guy at parts said the cable comes with the whole lever as well and they want $300+!!! is this right? Ute is 2001 with manual,

The service department also said there is adjustment in the rear brakes. i might have to look at that cos i have run out of adjustment at the lever.

from memory the handbrake cable is a 2 piece one where the cable runs from the handbrake itself through the floor then connects with the other piece to the diff.
Yeah pretty sure there is an adjustment point under the car as well so may just need to back it off at the handbrake and tension it up from under the car, just not too much tho.

Uh, why do you want a new handbrake cable?
Have you adjusted the shoes?
Have you adjusted the 10mm bolt on the side of the handbrake lever itself?
