Default Removing Door panels 2008 FOCUS (lots a pics)

Hi All. I gave the guys in a recent 'speaker thread' the bum steer regarding how to remove door panels on a 2006 Focus. Well, mine's the update 2008 model, but this should be the same. So here is a HOW TO to make up for it.

This is quite comprehensive! Feel free to jump ahead.

Tools required -
Butter knife, set of TORX driver bits, small socket bits. (sorry dont know actual sizes) Small bit of stiff wire 200mm long. (I used the bit of flat wire you snap off a windscreen wiper blade) Flat blad screw driver.

1/. Pop out the blank panel/window switch in the door latch area. I used a butter knife. Set a side in a safe place.

2/. This allows you to grip the door latch cover. Pull it towards you. Pull the door latch towards you and then take off the cover. Set a side in a safe place.

3/. Pop off the door handle cover. I used a butter knife to start it. It is all clips. See how it looks when popped off. Set a side in a safe place.

4/. Unscrew the two small bolts. I used a small socket driver. Set a side in a safe place.

5/. FOR MANUAL WINDERS. Push the flat blade screw driver in between the window winder and the plastic washer behind it. Get bloody close to the door, and pull the window winder out towrds you so you can see behind it. You are looking for a silver grey clip. (see below) I made a small hook out of some flat metal. Push this behind the winder, and pull the clip towards you until it pops off. You can then remove the winder and the plastic washer assembly behind it. Set a side in a safe place.

6/. Starting at the door latch hole, gently pull the door cover towards you until it pops off. Continue doing this all the way around until its off. Done!

Notice how the speakers are rivetted in?!

I hope this helps a few of you out. If there are any major differences between fronts and rears, I'll do another HOW TO.

Cheers - Leakey
