I drive past the Milperra auction place on a daily basis, had they allowed viewing prior to auction day I would have dropped in for a sticky beak.

Friday is my casual day, if I'm off I may venture down and see how things go... wonder what it will go for? And wouldn't mind speaking to someone to get more detail of the whole "smoke and heat affected" defect.

Doesn't matter if it's written off, it will still have too many bids bumping up the price to make it too expensive to buy.

Some auction prices at Pickles are absurd.

How will this car be affected by the changes to NSW laws regarding written off vehicle sales? Structually it looks ok, but smoke and heat damage is a very vague description as to why it was written off.

I think, as is usual with these things, it may be a case of buyer beware.

496 kms. showing on Odometer

In all photos that are taken within the cabin, you can see on the cluster the lcd screen shows the odometer (cant read it from that distance) but it is functional.

P.S. This G6E turbo has done 12 km's http://www.pickles.com.au/damaged/ve...110356/lotid-0

There are a whole heap of Fords around that Ego gone. I'm almost tempted to go and have a look at it - if the interior is still functional (the interior lights work), then it might be quite a good car. The price should be right, anyway.

Technically it is not toxic, but if thatns all you are breathing then you will die

Close, Irish, 21 percent oxygen in air, approximately 18 percent oxygen in your expired breath. If oxygen content of the air drops below 15 percent, you will lose consciousness as there is not enough oxygen to sustain life. We have oxygen monitors that alarm if oxygen content goes below 16 percent, so staff have time to get the heck out of the area, though by this time, most people will start to have headaches, feel muscle weakness and unco-ordination, and funnily enough, start to get 'snappy' or cranky. Anyone seeing this knows it's time to get out.

Yessss the baked beans were a real stinker...

For every ones info on dead smells in cars,, try a product called "Glen 20"
the police put me on to this when my Mum was found deceased after two days with the resultant smell.....
after removeing the mattress and bedding ,all we did was reach in through the slightly opened bedroom door ,spray about half a can into the room and closed the door for an hour or so ...worked perfectly

When we had our panel shop ,we had a HK Monaro come in that had the owner shoot himself in it( to escape arrest.. no less!!!)
by the time that the car was released for sale, it was real honky, the buyer stripped the interior out hot water pressure cleaned it, out and left it the sun for a week with the windows down...
no dice.!
all we did was remove the head lining down( bullet hole) from the already stripped interior , set a half a can off inside the car ,went and had smoko, came back to start work on it and no smell... and it never returned...ever!

the Glen 20 has a similar product called Glen10 however I dont know if that one works

Correct me if i'm wrong here, but it says damaged vehicles, not written off vehicles?

To me, looks like a dealer has had a storage area fire and these cars are all smoke damaged, probably not worth the dealer cleaning them up and selling them new, so auction them off.

That is the way it appears.

Either the Lightning Strike or the Ego G6ET would be good buys. I'm almost tempted, except for the niggling doubt about a G8E.

The property next to Kinghorn Motors at Nowra burnt down and a good percentage of the cars were very close to the fire.

Smoke and heat affected vehicles were sent to Pickles as they were written and there were a heap of new car that were water damaged from the fireys, the cars were that close to the fire there windows exploded and inner wheel arch guards melted but they never caught on fire.

Not neccissarily no....

It would be a case by case deal really.

If it was a common fault i.e. diff failure in a ute or sedan i'd say you would possibly get it.

Loose turbo housing on the 4.0ltr turbo motors etc stuff thats common manufacturer faulty...

But they wouldnt warrant interior paint etc

The vehicles are not being sold by ford as new, or 2nd hand or demo models. They are auction vehicles, they will still have a statutory warranty, UNLESS

Before an auction, you must be told if the vehicle:
•does not carry a statutory warranty
•has sustained water damage
•is a repairable write-off, which must pass an inspection before it can be registered
•is a statutory write-off, which can never be registered.

Or is

A restorable vehicle is:
•20 or more years old
•for sale for restoration.
To bid on a restorable vehicle at an auction, you must register with the auctioneer before the auction begins. The vehicle's statutory warranty is waived as a condition of the sale.

Strange turn this thread has taken, with lots of speculation as to what it is in exhaust gases that kills you. Of course if there is not enough oxygen in the air that you're breathing that can kill you, but the thing that kills you in a car exhaust suicide is the carbon monoxide from the exhaust, as it binds to your red blood cells (which usually carry oxygen in your blood) more strongly than oxygen does, therefore you cannot carry enough oxygen in your blood as the binding sites are taken up with carbon monoxide...
Anyway, that's a nice looking GT, I wonder about the condition of the plastics/paint/glass etc if it's been severely heat affected.

Introduction of catalytic converters means that new cars when warm have very little carbon monoxide produced.

I went to one of their auctions where there was an xr6t ute that had been in water, funny thing though you could see the water line and it only came a little way up the engine right at the front, didnt appear to be anywhere near any electronics, and it was a stat right off, it was ridiculous, i have been through deeper puddles

Hmm, G6E Turbos went for about 4 grand cheaper than private. Wonder how much all the fees and charges would add on top of that though.

XR6s can be had for that same price from car dealers now too.

Good work with posting the prices!
