Default AU1 wagon t-bar converion

Hey guys and girls,

I recently purchased a 1999 AU wagon, its only a forte, and very basic but for $200 it'll make a decent daily driver for my girlfriend. How ever she doesn't like the idea of a column auto and has asked me to convert it to t-bar instead.

Just a quick question, is it as easy to convert an AU to t-bar as the older cars? Is there already a hole in the floor for the selector? And i presume i would have to fit the console bracket to the floor before securing the console.

Cheers

Doug

A column shift would be awesome I reckon! Tell her to put up with it! LOL!

you also need to move the handbrake.

Is it registered as a 6 seater? if so, converting it to a 5 seater may require engineering approval. Check with your local rego authority.

Having done this conversion on a few AU's wilst they were still Taxi's this is what's involved:
Buy Standard Falcon Steering column from Wreakers
Buy Standard Falcon Handbrake assembly from Wreakers
Buy Standard Falcon Shifter assembley from Wreakers
Buy Standard Falcon Center Console from Wreakers

Remove all Column shift Components
Vehicle already has hole in floor etc.
However.
Where the handbrake comes through underneith the car, the bracket that holds the handbrake cable is missing. Will require one to be welded to the body.
Good luck, A lot of work for little gain, Everyone to their own.. Later
