What's an easy way to tell if your LSD is single spinning?

Lol apart from dropping a skid that is. Reason being I just took off hard to beat some traffic near a round about and it smoked up a little but revved harder than I was expecting, I looke in my rearview and at a glance it looked like 1 tyre track but I'm not sure

Do a skid around a corner. In your driveway of course. Sometimes they will lock up going straight, but turn it and it will usually just light up one.

So that's if it's broken right Josh? I wasn't really on an angle. Maybe the car was jut feeling particularly angry today but I sure hope it's not stuffed
yeah kristo fully recoed less than 5000km ago and never done burnouts or drifting or anything silly, I got it in prep for a high stall and so I could make good use of 3.9s so I shoul head to some private property turn the wheel and do a bit of a skid? Is it possible thy just single sometimes I don't know just a suggestion

Jack it up at the back and turn one wheel by hand - if the opposite side wheel turns the same way the diff is LSD if it turns the opposite way it is a single spinner or an LSD gone west.

Get it flushed and add the correct ammount of friction modifyer added as that plays a huge roll in the workings of an LSD.Was it a full rebuild clutches ect? |

Skid isnt the best way, especially if its shagged. Went to a burnout comp a few months back and a friends LSD was that shagged it only spun one for a whole minute tyring to get it to kick two, luckily it finally did lock in and he put on a decent show.

Yeah, go do some skids. Some upright citizen is just as likely to get your number and report you to the cops. Good luck not having your car impounded for 3 months. |

well if its truely shagged, not starting to, why cant u just chuck the rears in the air on a jack, no handbrake on and spin one wheel. see if the other follows suit.

I had mine rebuilt with new bearings and seals about 9-12 months ago ($700 plus fitting to my car whilst taking out my old one (was shagged real bad but only a single spinner). There was no slack play in it when fitted but now it definately has a lot of play and single spins (in the wet) until in second or thrid then it kicks in properly. Correct me if i am wrong but the AU's have an 8" diff where as the BA's have an 8 3/4 " diff. If so are they really that much stronger?? Sorry bit off topic but been curious for a while. Cheers, Rhys

Spoke to the mechanics they told me the au diffs are cone style not clutch pack and therefore don't destroy the oil. He's going to ring their diff place but I'm changing the oil just fr piece of mind

one i was told was pull your car off the road one wheel on the grass/dirt one on the tarmac and tramp it. in a single pegger it would be going nuts in the dirt...
