Default Funny/weird things you've heard at your mechanic

went in today to visit my mechanic, as i recently have had a gas research conversion done.

there was a box ute on the dyno that made a whole of 30hp LOL!!!

well anyway, i ask him, what did the guy say about it, "runs abit sluggish" i laughed.

then tells me bout your typical bogans, one that almost had me on the floor.

"its runnin as rough as a pair of heshen undies"

my response was, HOW did u not laugh, he found it hard, but replied with, "really, that rough?"

Nothing to do with my mechanic, but I had a guy at work a few weeks ago tell me he downloaded plans off the net that tell you how to convert your car to run on water. WTF. I managed to hold back a smartarse reply, but i'd love to see how long it would take for the engine to hydraulic and probaly destroy itself. Some people can be so gullible.

Not that the mechanic said it, but when I had the ute in getting the gas system checked, a guy came in with a CFI EA wanting to convert to gas, was told that the gas system alone would cost more than the car, to which the guy replied...

"It's because of the carby, isn't it?"

My workmate who got an apprenticeship (mechanical) knows nothing about cars... 2 things he said as i was showing him when i put the bigger tickford snokrel on was
"yeah that sure is bigger" (pointing to the airbox)
and
"see your problem is your headbolts are rusted on"
I held back the smartass replies... but WTF those are rocker cover bolts head bolts are under there :S

I rebuilt a fairly warmish 351 in an XC Hardtop for a customer. Ran it for 40 hours on a dyno getting it all right (and fixing a dodgely fitted timing case seal :nutsycuck) and went round to pick him up for a road test. Fed it some serious berries up the street, to which he replied "it pulls like a 15 year old with a copy of Playboy"! Made me feel good
I wasn't that impressed, but the following week he ran a 13.8. probably not too bad! :evilking:
