As soon as the black starts to dry - the longer you leave it, the more chance you have of pulling the black off, but too soon, and the paint might bleed into the blue. It's a fine balance, but I'd go for once the "wet look" disappears.

yea, once the paint has the "tacky" look to it.. you might need to use the aid of a blade if the paint starts to work against you. so have a razor handy for lifting the tape without risk of fingerprints etc.

Thanks GK
I hope it goes well with this. The Ford blue is on the heat shield. Mind you I now have black spark plug leads. UK

Its come up well, I have a pair of Windsor rocker covers in the shed that I hit with the VHT but I'm not happy how they have come up. One is very wrinkly, the other is quite flat. Reckon I'll sand em back and have another go.

I was thinking about painting my rocker cover, but couldn't decide on colour.
I like the black wrinkle finish, but I think I'd go without the blue. (I'm talking about for my car.) Ross |

nice job Uncle Ken, i have to admit i was ready to hate it ,as i bought a rover 3.5 v8 years ago for a project that had the wrinkle paint job done, the rocker covers looked like they had craters on the moon surface all over them( it was seriously crap) , again, well done sir.
