Used it to oil the barrel of an old air rifle once as I was shooting rock salt and didn't want it to rust, didn't work too bad either!

Well if it's heated up a tad it runs very quick and very thin, so you just have a long bit of dowling and a lint-free rag, give it a few pumps up and down, then just for good measure I put a few slugs through her, still shot straight

I don't think I want to marinate my feet in garlic and chilli
When I bought the oil I was sorry I hadn't ask the doc what type. If anyone heard the conversation in store when I asked for advice (about the different types of olive oil) would of cracked up. |

You didn't say it was for your feet! I thought you meant in general...
Any kind of cold compressed oil will do the trick...you can buy carrier oils and such...I think they're generally an almond oil - there is some reason for having them, but I can't for the life of me remember (although I think it has to do with the lack of that 'greasy' feel that canola or vegetable oil has to it) If it's fungal, add some eucalyptus or tea tree. If it's dry, add some lavender... Just don't use sesame oil...the smell seems to 'soak' into your skin, and takes forever to get out... :S edit: Carrier oils aren't generally for soaking your feet in though...as they can be pretty pricey...

Nah they certainly aren't! You may find that the carrier oil you pick will have it's own individual attributes, but I can't seem to find that list (I may not be looking hard enough). edit: or I could have just looked at they page you linked
You buy lavender as an oil, can get them from health food shops, any of those pretty little stores like Dusk and the like. An essential oil is generally more concentrated, and a little more expensive. But lavender is good for chucking in the bath too, and for migraines apparently (damn stuff just gives me a headache), and apparently has antiseptic qualities. The other one for softening is...peppermint? I don't know the true benefits (except it smells pretty), but the menthol in it is apparently good for you...I think most of the foot scrubs the body shop have are peppermint based. Baking soda or milk bath's can possibly do the same thing and epsom salts will soften your feet as well (if that's the issue).

Interesting stuff, ta sezzy
I've got a can of Bosisto's Lavender Spray sitting here. When I first read the blurb on the can I thought it was a proverbial magical elixir. Blurb: Sleep and relaxtaion. Antiseptic. Cleans and freshens. Anxiety & tension (no thanks already got some). Sleep and insomina (provides both?). Insect bites (bite them back). etc |
