Default Missing?

Hi all, i have an EA 5spd multi point, the car has just started to develope a miss, i have no idea what it is, it sounds like a popping noise, as if the zorst was leaking, but i have checked all that out and there is no such leak.

Could it be the O2 sensor being on the way out?

Please help. I have no idea what to look for. Thank you

answer these questions:
does it miss at idle
does the miss go on accel
does it flat spot

does idle fluctuate or does the engine just run rough

first of all grab your self a can of carbie clean start up your engine,
let it idle and spray all along the inlet manifold gasket if the idle dies or drops when you spray it you got a inlet manifold leak, can use that to find other vacumm leaks, check map sensor vac line.

the fact that you said it goes on accel, but missfires at idle and you hear a pop noise from exhasut reguarly at idle, you may have burnt valves, carry out running compression test, and compare cylinder pressures they shouldnt be too far apart for example:

Example 1
acceptable:
Cyl. 1 - 185
Cyl. 2 - 190
Cyl. 3 - 180
Cyl. 4 - 185
Cyl. 5 - 195
Cyl. 6 - 175

Example 2
not acceptable:
Cyl. 1 - 185
Cyl. 2 - 120
Cyl. 3 - 180
Cyl. 4 - 185
Cyl. 5 - 195
Cyl. 6 - 150

It is a vacuum line, but it wont make a difference on how the car runs.

Okay, now it is really bad, near undrivable. the further u drive it, the worse it gets, was going for about half an hour, and it is just constant miss, but when you rev it out a bit more, it will stop until you are doing normal revs again.. I got no idea

It also is now developing flat spots..

sounds to me that you need to check out your spark plugs and leads

I dont think it will miss with a bung O2 sensor, just run hell rich.

Could also try the Map sensor hose. The Map sensor is under the top of the firewall near the main loom of wires, just above the heater hoses. Check the hose that connects to it for cracks or splits.

Well, i have sprayed carby cleaner around everywher, like around all the vacume hoeses, nothing. i'l just change the plugs and leads, havnt had time to do a compression test, but if it was in the head or "mechanical" wouldnt it do it all the time? cause when the car is cold it is beautiful. only after it heats up is when it turns to the bad side.... lol.

Thank you all for help
