Default Engine baulking when turning right

Hi all, I have a strange but true problem........when I am turning right from a standing start and accelerate, my engine seems to die then comes on again. It happens on a tight R/H turn or a not too tight R/H bend. Doesnt do it turning left or accelerating straight. It has me baffled. Any ideas??????

Could be a problem with the power steering pump

hmm i remember back in the day i had an old carby-fed car and it didn't used to like turning hard
come to think of it, there may have been opposite lock involved.

Might be a stupid suggestion but... traction control playing up or cutting in because of a sensor issue?

Does it feel like power being cut?

Do the ABS/TC lights come up on the dash when it happens?

Yes it is 6 cyl....

Power steering switch?? what is that and where is it?? Apology for the lack of knowledge.

Power steering pump? Seems to be working ok, no leaks or whining etc.

macman, It is a SII Forte....so no traction control or ABS....I am just a lowly pawper.

But yes it feels like the engine totally dies, i dont lose power steering just the engine hits a huge dead spot and then comes back to life like nothing has happened......sort of like my wife during sex rofl...sorry couldnt resist.

Could be a fuel issue. Maybe part of the fuel pump pickup is blocked on one side. Or a wiring short that only catches when the chassis is torqued in the correct way.. Could be a plug not correctly plugged in, or some corrosion on a plug that causes a break when turning in that direction..

how long has it been going on for ?
could be a simple thing like bad fuel, my au doesnt like shell fuel, engine cuts out when accelerating if i use it sometimes.

How much fuel do you have in the tank when this occurs?
If you have a 1/4 or less, it could be the fuel flowing to the side of tank, car starves of petrol as there is no pickup, straighten up and off you go again.

I know my xr8 did this till i rotated the pump/pickup 90*

Its been happening for about 2 years and is just starting to get the better of me, especially when a silly Bomadore beats me because of it. Grrrrrrr.

I will look into the power steering pressure switch idea as that makes a bit of sense
